Ron Fleshman Insurance is On Your Side

 Our History

Gene Nelson stated working part-time for Nationwide Insurance in 1951.  Gene was managing a local small loan office and split his time between the two occupations, working the insurance business at night for Farm Bureau Insurance Company.  In 1968, upon the retirement of Lewis H.  Wallace, the company, which had now become Nationwide Insurance, offered Gene a full-time position.  Gene originally operated out of the small loan office, but in 1973, he built the office that until recently housed Ron Fleshman Insurance at 309 Main Street.

Gene grew the agency until it became one of the most profitable agencies in the Canton, Ohio region, earning Gene many awards.  In 1986, Gene approached Ron Fleshman and asked him to become his associate agent, a training position that would lead to Ron becoming the Nationwide Insurance agent in Rainelle.  On December 31, 1986, Gene retired.  Even though he had retired, he maintained an office at the 309 Main Street location until his death in 2005.

Ron grew the profitable agency and expanded the building in 1988 to more than twice its original size.  In late 2006, Ron left the original building and moved to a beautiful office at 761 Kanawha Avenue in Rainelle proper.  Come visit us at our new location!

In early 2007, Associate Agent and Office Manager Rosalie Ross became a licensed realtor.  This allowed the agency to offer comprehensive real estate services to our customers.

By 2009, Ron's son, Sean Fleshman, obtained his insurance license and joined our staff as an Associate Agent, specializing in auto, homeowners, and motorcycle insurance.  Every person who works at our agency is licensed by the West Virginia Insurance Commission and certified to service your policies and give you the exemplary experience you desire.
